GENERAL.

What is Hurley House?
Hurley House is a full service bakery.  We also offer oven-ready take-away meals, we serve lunch, and we host private events in our space.

What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 6:00, and on Saturday from 9:00 to 2:00.

Where are you located?
We are located in Fort Worth, Texas, at the intersection of Bryant Irvin and Bellaire Drive South, right across the street from Fort Worth Country Day School. 

What does the name Hurley House mean?
The name Hurley House comes from the street Hurley Avenue.  Several years ago my family and I lived in a house on Hurley that became known to our friends as the Hurley House.  The story of that home and all that happened while we lived there is the heart behind our business.  

Are you a restaurant?
We are not a restaurant in the traditional sense of the word, but you can eat a meal at Hurley House!  We have muffins and scones for breakfast, a simple lunch menu, and treats available all day long.

How can I stay connected?

BAKERY.

How do I know what you have in your case?
We have a general bakery rotation that we follow.  It can be found on our home page.  

Do you have certain items in the case every day?
Yes!  We do our best to keep our case stocked with Sparkle Sandwich Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Rice Krispie Treats.  In addition, we always offer an assortment of cookies, bars, muffins, scones, and cake by the slice.  

Can I call and pick up a whole cake?
We typically start the day with whole cakes.  If you call and reserve it before anyone orders a slice, then we will happily sell it to you!

Do you use fondant?
We do not work with fondant.

Do you make wedding cakes?
We do!  Our wedding cakes are larger versions of our bakery cakes.  They are casual and simple.

How much notice do you need for custom orders?
Custom bakery orders require three days notice.  Sometimes we can turn orders around in less time, but it depends on how many other orders we have at the time. It never hurts to ask! The deadline for Saturday cake orders is Wednesday.

Is there a minimum for custom bakery orders?
There is a 6-item minimum for any flavor of any item for all custom bakery orders.

What’s a sparkle sandwich cookie?
Sparkle Sandwich Cookies are our signature item.  A Sparkle Sandwich Cookie is two vanilla almond butter cookies with vanilla buttercream filling.  The color is just a color, not a flavor.  We offer them in any pastel shade as well as some brighter shades of certain colors.  We also offer them in a miniature size for private orders only.

Do you make anything gluten free?
This website is gluten free. Just Kidding. Technically, no.  Our Salted Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats are made with Kellogg’s Rice Krispie cereal, which no longer carries the official gluten-free label, but is accepted as a gluten-free option by most.  

Are any of your baked goods nut-free?
Several of our bakery items are free of nuts.  However, we are not a nut-free facility and cannot guarantee items have not been cross contaminated.

How do I order cinnamon rolls?
Our cinnamon rolls are available for pick up Friday after 2:00 or on Saturday.  If you want to make sure you get a pan, we suggest placing a reservation early in the week.  They sell out quickly!

Do you make cupcakes?
We do not.

What size cakes do you make? 
6-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch.

How many do they serve?
The 6-inch will serve 6-8, the 8-inch will serve 12-16, and the 10-inch will serve a small army.  Just kidding.  But really, a 10-inch cake, if cut judiciously, can feed around 30 people.

What flavors of cake do you make?
All of our cake flavors can be found on our cake page.  

Do you make red velvet cake?
No.

What colors of frostings do you offer?
Our frosting colors can be found on our cake page.

What do your cakes look like?
Our cakes are elegant and classic.  We strive for an aesthetic that looks professional yet homemade.  All of our frosting styles can be found on our cake page.

Do you make custom themed cakes?
Kind of.  We can help you select a frosting color that will coordinate with your theme, and then leave space for you to add toppers or theme-specific items.  For a few examples of the kind of specialty cakes we offer, check out the photos on our cake page.

TAKE AWAY MEALS.

How many menus do you offer?
We offer one menu every week.  The menu does not change until the following week.  During the school year, our menus are on a six-week rotation. We offer a different weekly menu during the summer.

How do I order a meal?
There are three ways you can order or reserve a meal.  You can call us (817.349.8934), email us (hurleyhouse.orders@gmail.com), or respond to our weekly text message (scroll down for more details on how to join the HH Inner Circle!).

How do I know what the menu is for the week?
Our weekly menu can be found on our home page, or in our weekly email, The Lovely.

When can I pick up my meal?
You are welcome to pick up a meal any time during business hours.  We are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 6:00, and on Saturday from 9:00 to 2:00.

Do I have to reserve a meal?  
You do not have to reserve a meal.  However, because we make a fixed quantity of each menu, we strongly suggest you reserve a meal to ensure we have one for you.

If I do reserve a meal, do I have to tell you when I’m coming?
It’s not required, but it is appreciated.

What if I reserve a meal and forget to pick it up?
We have a list, and you are on it.  Just kidding.  We understand life can get complicated and sometimes meals are not picked up.  If you know you can’t pick up your meal, we appreciate a phone call.  Otherwise, we sell all unclaimed meals on Saturday.

Where can I find the cooking instruction?
The cooking instructions can be found on the label on the top of each meal container.

How many does each meal serve?
The small main dish serves 2-4.  The large main dish serves 6-8.  Our sides serve 4 people each.  Our side salads feed 4-6 people.  Our large main dish salads serve 3-4 people.

Can you customize the ingredients for me?
No.

Are any of your meals gluten-free?
Our salads are gluten-free. 

Do you have the nutritional information for your meals?
We do not.

How much do the meals cost?
The small main dish is $20.  The large main dish is $30.  The sides range in price from $5 to $10.  The large salads are $25.

What if I want to order one of your meals but it’s not the meal of the week?
This would be a catering order, and would require a minimum of seven days notice.  

Are the take-away meals frozen?
Our meals are fresh, never frozen.  All the ingredients are fully cooked, but they do require time in the oven before serving.

Can I freeze my meal?
Absolutley!  Most of our meals are freezer-friendly.  I would not suggest freezing Brussels sprouts, but other than that, stock your freezer!

How do I gift a meal to someone?
The best way to gift a meal to a friend or loved one is to purchase a gift card.

What does it mean when you say you’re sold out of meals?  How does that happen?
We decide in advance how many total meals we are going to prepare over the course of the week.  Once these meals are claimed or purchased, then we are sold out.

MENU TEXTS.

My friend says she gets a menu text every week.  How can I get the text?  
Your friend is a part of what we call the HH Inner Circle, and we would love to have you join! Text the word hhcircle (all one word, capitalization does not matter) to the number 31996. If you’ve done it correctly, you will instantly receive a confirmation text.

What is in the text?
On Sunday night I send out a text with the details of our menu for the coming week.  You can text back to reserve your meal and then pick it up at your convenience during the week.

I reserved a meal over text, but I didn’t receive a confirmation text.  Did my order go through?
We do not send out confirmation texts.  If you have a question, we will be happy to answer it, but we are charged for all outgoing texts, so we only send responses if you ask a specific question.

Can I place a bakery or lunch order over text?
No.  Please call the store to place bakery and lunch orders.

LUNCH.

What is your lunch menu?
We have two lunch options.  We offer a Hurley House Trio where you get to pick three options from a list of prepackaged salads and sides.  We also offer our salad of the week packaged individually to serve one.  Each of our lunch options is $10.

What are the trio options?
Lemon Basil Chicken Salad, Orzo Pasta Salad with Roasted Vegetables, Fresh Fruit Salad, and Pimiento Cheese. Look for a couple of new trio options this summer!

How are the lunch items served?
Our lunch options are pre-packaged in plastic containers.

Does anything come with my lunch?
Yes!  Each lunch comes with your choice of bagel chips and a beverage.  You can choose from Everything Bagel Chips (savory) or Cinnamon Sugar Bagel Chips (sweet).  Our beverage choices are iced mint tea, Grapefruit La Croix, Topo Chico, Hot Coffee, or Iced Coffee.

 Can I get my lunch to go?
Yes! 

Can I drive through and order lunch?
Yes!

Do you offer any children’s lunch options?
Yes!  We have a Lunch for Littles menu. You can choose three items out of: Uncrustable PB&J, string cheese, fruit cup, or bagel chips. Each lunch comes with a juice box!

Can I reserve a table for lunch?
Yes!  Give us a call and let us know you’re coming.  We will save a table for your group.  Your and your friends will order lunch at the counter and then enjoy lunch together.

Can I make a table reservation for lunch, and then bring in some decorations and flowers and maybe some gifts and games and favors and have a little lunch shower?
What you are describing is an event, not a table reservation.  To ensure that your guests have the best experience possible in this situation, and to make sure we are adequately staffed to accommodate your group, we treat situations like this as a private event.  Please see our events page for more details.

What is an Ina Lunch?
An Ina Lunch is a ticketed lunch event hosted weekly as a part of the Ina In A Year Project.

Are any of your lunch items GF?
Our Lemon Basil Chicken Salad, Fresh Fruit Salad, Pimiento Cheese, and all of our salads are gluten-free.

Can you customize my salad ingredients?
We cannot.

Do I have to place an order in advance if I need a lot of lunches?
It is not required, but it is greatly appreciated.  If you know you’re coming, give us a call and we will have everything packaged when you arrive.


EVENTS.

Can you have an event at Hurley House?
Absolutely! We love to host events in our space. Please contact the Event Coordinator, Elizabeth, to get a date on the calendar!

What kind of events can you host at Hurley House?
We have hosted (but are not limited to) baby showers, bridal luncheons, wedding showers, birthday parties, birthday dinners, client appreciation dinners and book clubs.

How many people can attend an event at Hurley House?
For a seated event, the maximum capacity is 24 people. For a mingling situation, the capacity is 30. 

What is the table situation?
We have two long 9-foot tables and two smaller 5-foot tables. We typically seat guests at the longer tables, use one of the smaller tables for food, and leave the last small table up for each party’s specific needs.

Can I bring in my own food or dessert?
Outside catering is not permitted. All of our delicious options are listed on our catering menu - we cover it all!

Can I bring in alcohol to my event?
Yes! You are more than welcome to bring in your own alcoholic beverages. However, we do not provide glassware. You will need to provide disposables, or we are happy to arrange rentals for the real thing. 

Do you have a catering menu?
We do! We have menus for every kind of event, for events both in our space, or in your home.

Is there a rental fee?
Yes. For groups of 12 people or less during store hours, the rental fee is $75. For groups larger than 12 during store hours, the rental fee is $125. For all after hours events, the rental fee is $250.

What is the cost breakdown for an event?
The costs for events can be broken down into three categories. The rental fee, the cost of food and beverage, and a 20% service charge on the cost of food and beverage. 

Can I host children’s parties?
We limit the size of children’s parties to the number age of the children attending! So if a child is celebrating his or her fifth birthday, he or she may invite five friends.

Do you provide activities for children’s parties?
No. 

What decorations can I bring in?
You are more than welcome to bring in your own pre-arranged floral arrangements, as well as any table decorations. We have one spot for a small, lightweight banner, but otherwise do not permit anything being taped or pinned to the chairs or walls. Confetti is not permitted. 

Do you provide the dishes?
Hurley House can provide basic white dishes and basic silverware. We have plastic cups for water and tea, and disposable coffee cups. For wine and champagne glasses, you will need to provide disposables or we are happy to arrange for rentals. We do wash any dishes you bring in, and you are not allowed access to our kitchen for dishwashing or any other kitchen-specific needs.

What is the difference between an event and a table reservation?
A table reservation is limited to our weekly lunch menu selections and does not require any additional staffing, decorations or special orders. A table reservation becomes an event when additional service from the Hurley House staff is required, when decorations are brought in or when a custom menu is requested. 

Am I limited to the catering menu?
In most cases, yes. However, if you have a special request, we would be happy to go through the options with you. 

CATERING.

How much notice do you need for catering orders?
All catering orders require a minimum of seven days advanced notice.

Where can I find your catering menu?
Our catering menu can be found on our catering page.

Will you come to my event and set up the food and serve it?
We do not offer this service.

Do you provide dishes or silverware?
No.

Do you provide platters and serving pieces?
For offsite catering orders, we do not offer these items.  If you are hosting an onsite event, we do serve the food for your event on our dishes and provide all the necessary serving pieces.

Can I bring my dishes to you and have you put my catering order in my dishes?
Absolutely!  You can even say you cooked it yourself.  We won’t tell.

Do you deliver?
It depends on our staffing availability and the delivery location.  Most of the time we try to make delivery work, but we cannot guarantee it.

Can I pick up my catering order hot and ready to serve?
No.

Is there a minimum for custom catering orders?
All of our sizes for catering are set, so the minimum size is the one that is listed on the catering menu.
